OK, so I wanted to let everyone know what is going on without having to call everyone and trying to tell the story over and over. And while FB is a great tool for updates, I really don't want random people knowing about my hysterectomy. Not opposed to writing 'around' it just don't want to announce it. I thought a blog would be perfect....never thought I would actually write one. Aren't they supposed to funny? Enlightening? well.....
Yes, I am having a hysterectomy on Monday November 8th. As you all know, I have had severe problems with endometriosis and while a hyst won't 'cure' it it will certainly help. I've also been bleeding between periods and found out today that my estrogen level is < 7. Normal range is over 50, usually over 100 for someone my age. (from what I've read) My body isn't producing any estrogen, therefore it own't be having any more babies anyway. After Bells, we had decided that it wouldn't be in my best interests to get pregnant again and decided no more. I couldn't agree more now that she is almost 2 and rowdier than her brother. It's sad that I won't have that option anymore, estrogen or not. Something to be said for having all your female organs. But I feel after a 2nd opinion and the opinions of some others that this is the best course of action for me. Yay for menopause.......
Dr. Good is Tullahoma is doing the surgery (if you've heard very bad things, tell me now) So I will be at Harton at least through Tuesday, possibly Wednesday. He is going in abdominally to make sure that he zaps all the endo and to make sure my bladder is good (from that nice bladder laceration) and to see where the endo has spread. I have several things going on and he felt this was the best way to do it. It means longer recovery time but hopefully won't have to have any more surgery down the road. He is removing my left ovary (right one went missing at 22.....it was removed people!!!) uterus and cervix. I will say hello to menopause shortly after. Pray for my husband ;) Bright side, I won't have to worry about cervical, ovarian or uterian cancer!
I will keep everyone updated on how things are going. Probably update after pre-admissions on Friday when I know the time.
Much love to everyone
